Raw cacao – tasty and healthy?
One of my favourite products in iHerb is . It doesn't taste so sweet as the "normal" cacao powders but it is _way_ healthier! The main forms I use it are: in smoothies, making my own raw chocolate, hot chocolate and sometimes in coffee. With hot chocolate, you might want to add a bit of honey in to make it sweeter.
So why should you give raw cacao a go?
Since it hasn't been processed, it's full of healthy antioxidants. Meaning that even though it tastes good, it is still healthy for you! You can read about the health benefits of raw cacao for example in these two articles:
I find cacao powder easiest to use since it tastes good even if you just add hot water (and maybe milk+honey), but feel free to test other raw cacao products as well, like: and .

Breakfast smoothie
Here is a recipe for a simple and tasty smoothie with full of nutrients.
- 1 banana
- (0,5-1dl)
- (1-2 table spoons + 2dl water)
- Blueberries (1-2dl)
- Strawberries (1-2dl)
- (1 table spoon)
- (2 table spoons)
- Honey (depending on how sweet smoothie you want)
- Water
Soak the chia seeds in water for about 15min or more. They will become jello-like and give a nice texture for the smoothie. Then just blend all the ingredients and enjoy. You can add water depending on how thick you like your smoothies.
I like doing this kind of smoothies at evening and usually save about 0,5 litres for breakfast. I don't like eating a heavy breakfast so this kind of smoothie is easy and fast to drink, but also contains a nice variety of nutrients.
